FULL BICYCLE ADJUSTMENT & EXTERNAL LUBE $90
  • Clean, round, true and tension both wheels.
  • Clean and inspect frame, check frame alignments.
  • Replace all cable, housing and brake pads (parts not included).
  • Adjust all bearing surfaces, brakes and derailleurs.
  • Remove drivetrain and clean in ultrasonic parts washer. (Add $40.00)
  • Lubricate cables, drivetrain and derailleur pivot points.
  • Test ride to check for safety and function.
  • Please note that parts are not included in the price.
COMPLETE OVERHAUL $260
  • Disassemble bike to bare frame and clean drivetrain in ultrasonic parts washer.
  • Thoroughly clean and inspect frame, check frame alignments.
  • Clean, round, true both wheels and balance spoke tension.
  • Disassemble, clean and install fresh grease and bearings in the bottom bracket, headset and hubs.
  • Install new cables and housing while adjusting brakes and derailleurs.
  • Grease stem, seat post and other appropriate contact surfaces.
  • Lubricate drivetrain and pivot points.
  • Test ride to check for safety and function.

HAND BUILT WHEEL $60

Montlake has nearly 30 years of wheel building experience. We have built thousands of wheels by hand. We offer our experience to help you create wheels that suit your needs whether you're looking for an aerodynamic time trial wheel set, a durable commuting ser or an upgrade for your tandem. A set of handmade wheels can be the biggest performance upgrade you will ever give a bicycle.

  • We offer free follow up true/tensioning within 200 miles or 3 months.
  • Wheels are guaranteed for 1 year against non accident related spoke breakage.
  • Pricing for some high-tension wheel building is variable. Call or visit for a quote.

TANDEM REPAIR

Tandems by nature require a higher level of care, and as such they incur a higher shop rate than single rider bikes. We offer year round tandem rentals so we are very experience with tandems. We are happy to offer a free quote for any tandem repairs.

There is nothing that I am more proud of at Montlake Bicycle Shop than the quality of the mechanical work that we deliver. We are pleased to offer one day turn around on weekdays, but doing it right is much more important than doing it fast. We have more than just one master mechanic; look at our employee profiles and you will find more than just a few of us with over ten years experience doing professional bicycle maintenance. We regularly get professional training and superior tools as new technology comes out.

Our service staff also cares about you and your bikes as individuals. We want to hear about your experience so that we don't just service your bike in a generic way. We strive to make sure the job is done right from your point of view, not just ours. We guarantee your satisfaction on all labor charges at Montlake Bicycle Shop.

We have standard service packages, however bikes rarely have the same needs. Bring your bike in and let a mechanic look it over. Describe any mechanical problems you have been having as specifically as you can and tell them what you want accomplished. By the end of the conversation they can usually give you an accurate estimate of what it will cost. If you love an old bike because of the way it feels, fits, or handles and want to restore it, we are here to figure out exactly how to make that possible.

We generally do not accept appointments for maintenance, but rather work on more of a flexible schedule basis of first come, first serve. This often allows us the ability to return your bike to you within one working day.
